SLIM Capstone Portfolio
The Portfolio:
The Capstone Portfolio is the culmination of my coursework at the School of Library and Information Management (SLIM) MLS program at Emporia State University. Creating this portfolio has given me an opportunity to reflect, assess and illustrate all of the knowledge, skills and professional values I have learned throughout the program. The artifacts contained within the portfolio will demonstrate my mastery off all of the MLS program outcomes and professional values.
The focus of my work throughout the SLIM program has been on public library service. Having worked in a public library for seven years at the time I started SLIM I was most interested in how to increase my understanding of the theories and foundations of library service and how to improve services to our patrons. The SLIM program exposed me to organization and managment theory, research, evaluation and assessment of library services, and diagnosing information needs among many other information skills and topics necessary to be an effective information professional in the 21st century. I believe that the SLIM program has given me the skills to ensure that patrons at any library that I may work at will receive the best information services possible.
